A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.

And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Whosoever cometh to me, and heareth my sayings, and doeth them, I will show you to whom he is like (Luke 6:45-47).

Whosoever cometh to me…. Come to Him. Don’t pay attention to everybody in the whole world and everything they say. Come to Jesus. He’s your Lord.

…and heareth my sayings…. Come to Him and hear His Word. Have faith in the Living Word, Jesus.

…and doeth them…. Come to Him, hear His Word and do it. Be a doer of the Word and not a hearer only (James 1:22).

…I will show you to whom he is like. What is the person like who does these three important things? Let’s look further in God’s Word.

He is like a man which built an house, and digged deep, and laid the foundation on a rock: and when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently upon that house, and could not shake it: for it was founded upon a rock (Luke 6:48).

“For it was founded upon a rock.” Read this phrase out loud: “For it was founded upon a rock.” That is the firm faith foundation each of us needs in our lives. We develop that foundation by coming to Jesus, hearing His Word and doing it.
